Iceland – Akureyri & Húsavík
Our journey from Akureyri took us through the beautiful valleys of northern Iceland to Húsavík, a small coastal town often referred to as the whale-watching capital of Iceland. Boarding a traditional wooden boat, we set out into Skjálfandi Bay in search of humpback whales, dolphins, puffins, and other wildlife that thrive in these cold northern waters. Seeing these magnificent animals in their natural environment was one of the most memorable experiences of our Nordic Cruise, reminding us how extraordinary and interconnected our natural world truly is.
After returning to shore, we visited the Whale Museum before continuing to Goðafoss, the spectacular “Waterfall of the Gods.” Yet what stayed with us most was not just the dramatic scenery, but the sense of respect and admiration for the wildlife and ecosystems that make Iceland so unique. The photographs from this day are a celebration of both the beauty of nature and the privilege of witnessing these gentle giants in the wild.
